(My wife and I had just adopted our only child, Samuel. His birthmother gave us a sealed letter to him that we were to share with him when he got older. Four days later, a very well meaning lady, after seeing our beautiful child asked “What kind of mother would give away such a precious child?” The next day, while cutting grass, I was driven to her defense by writing this song in her honor.)
